Pressure does not always make diamonds.
Untitled the VII: A Poetic Pressure is Brodie Finegan Forbes writing beneath the
weight of ambition, rejection, love, rage, loneliness, faith, memory and the relentless
compulsion to create.

In Blank Pages, the void becomes lover, deity and captor. Emotional Origami folds
the self through contradiction, while Cannibals confronts the loyalties that consume us.
Elsewhere, the page becomes God.
The poet becomes an arsonist.
Failure becomes a best friend.
The skeleton becomes evidence.
And the work remains a devourer.
At times tender, irreverent, wounded, darkly humorous and defiantly self-aware, Forbes
returns to turn the page into altar, battleground, confessional and burden, examining
what remains when the artist, the man and the mythology are pressed against one
another.
Some things survive pressure.
Some things break.

This is the seventh Untitled.
Carry it carefully.

Untitled the VII

For the Animals

I write a great deal about what it means to be human.

Perhaps part of being human is deciding what we do with what we have.

From every book purchased directly through this website, 50% of the profit is donated to the RSPCA, helping animals who have been abandoned, neglected, mistreated, or simply left without somewhere safe to go.

There is no grand philosophy behind it.

I have spent much of my life writing about suffering, survival, love, fear, cruelty, redemption, and the strange responsibility that comes with being alive. Eventually, words have to become something more than words.

Success has never interested me simply for the sake of having more.

Animals ask very little of us. They do not care who we are, what we have achieved, what we own, or whether anybody knows our name. So this is one small way that I can make the work mean something beyond the page.

You buy a book.
You support an independent writer.
And somewhere beyond the page, something good comes from it.

That is enough philosophy for me.
